When I first moved to Kingston, I had a difficult time trying to find an affordable and yet relatively safe place where I could live. Being from Montego Bay, I didn’t know the city well and I couldn’t afford a place in property hotspots such as New Kingston which were mostly all I’d known about at the time. Luckily, I had a few friends from Kingston. They were able to help me find somewhere reasonably priced. Were it not for my friends, I would have been forced to opt for somewhere more expensive than Hughenden. Alternatively, I may not have made the move from Montego Bay to Kingston.
This guide is solely to provide you with a starting point when making your decision on the best place for you to live in Kingston & St. Andrew.
Hopefully this guide will help you in identifying a good place to live in Kingston & St. Andrew that suits your budget and preferences. It should be useful whether or not you know anyone in the Kingston & St. Andrew parish or anywhere else in Jamaica itself. Furthermore, it shouldn't matter if you are looking for properties for sale in Jamaica or properties for rent in Jamaica.
This guide lists neighbourhoods in the Kingston & St. Andrew parish that Jamaicans as a whole would consider somewhat safe to live in. You should also note that one person’s definition of rough may differ to another person’s. As such, areas not suggested may simply have a bad reputation while still being a decent area in which to live. Furthermore, others which have a good reputation may also have ‘rough’ areas.
